Show Me Your Mumu

Show Me Your Mumu is a California based clothing line that sells more than their flowy, flowery outfits – they’ve started a trend of selling a life style. Show Me Your MuMu defines its brand in its mission statement: “MuMu is not simply a garment, it is a lifestyle. Spontaneous. Fun. Easy going. Unique. Versatile. Imaginative. Well-traveled. Make-believe. Gold, silver, and bronze worn together. Feathers and jewels. Explorers and inventors. It all encompasses the Mumu, and a way of life.”
They have changed the meaning and connotation of a traditional muumuu, like your grandma would wear, from frumpy and ugly to fun and flirty. Mumu has even started a bridesmaid line! They utilize social media for the majority of their marketing efforts and promote customer engagement and loyalty more than any other brand I know. They do weekly giveaways on Instagram where you post your photos in their clothes with the hash tag #mumumondaygiveaway for a chance to win a free mumu! This is a great branding effort because one mumu averages about $130.
In addition to social media, Mumu has a loyalty email program.  I receive emails from them about sales with exclusive promo codes that the normal customer doesn’t receive.

They really connect with their target market of trendy girls between the ages of 18 and 30. Mumu also travels to colleges across the country to do trunk shows at sororities. Kappa Delta at the University of Georgia has one every semester! Their crew will be here in March with the new summer collection!

Planet Blue

Planet Blue is a boho-chic boutique that has phenomenal social media marketing strategy. Their strongest platform is Instagram. Posting anywhere from two-four posts a day, Planet Blue keeps you entertained and engaged with their latest products and sales without annoying you by flooding your feed.  They have over 370 thousand followers.  I think they are successful because their posts are not always of only the clothes. They will post cute and funny sayings or beachy landscape photos. Their target market is young, trendy women between the ages of 16-30.  They are very successful in getting millennials to follow them. In addition to those posts, they have a blog. They post things from what to style their clothes with to their New Years Resolutions.

A lot of times they will have famous bloggers with large followings post wearing their clothing.  Rocky Barnes and The Salty Blonde are just a couple blogs with large followings.  Their partnership, per say, with Planet Blue markets for both their and Planet Blue's social media accounts.

Recently, they have began posting whenever one of their brick and mortar stores is having a sale.  For example, last week their store in Santa Monica had 50% off the entire store, so I called and ordered through that store to get the discount.  Had they not been so present on Instagram, I never would have seen that deal.  Another great tool they utilize is on their online store. If you are browsing and shopping online and place something in your basket, but do not purchase it, they will send you an email with a coupon code saying something along the lines of, "Don't forget about me! (the clothing item) Enjoy $15 off!"

Planet Blue is great at keeping consumers engaged and active on their accounts.  A lot of their posts recieve over 100 comments from girls tagging one another because they love the top or friends who just want to show each other a funny post referencing a JBiebs lyrical pun.
